Candidate Statement: Michael L.

As a Berkeley-based staff organizer in the early years of DSA, in my union political work, as a member in Oakland and organizing nationally, I have sought to build our movement so that socialist politics and programs have presence and power in the national narrative and at the local level. A convention delegate plays a crucial role in setting national priorities and ensuring resources for chapters - it would be an honor to represent East Bay DSA there. As a queer man, I was proud to be DSA national director in the early 90’s; this past year I have done a DSA Medicare for All speaking tour, visiting over 20 chapters.
