It is my hope that by participating in the DSA National convention I can positively impact the racial imbalance that exists in the DSA. I supported : The Program to Diversify Our Ranks and Engage with Communities of Color. In the RSC a consensus was reached that if we want to recruit black people it is necessary to do political work with organizations that address the felt needs of the black community. I agree. Persecution of political prisoners, like Mumia Abul Jamal, and police brutality are two issues that are important to political black people that we do not address on a national scale.
